approximately how much was this to build?
Could we get more Shipping container home viewings? This was damn good
I wish there were more homes like it in my area - I might have to start traveling around the country to view homes.
@@PaulWolfert Cool!
Who's the builder?
That house in this video is pure perfection. Who ever the owners are they have good taste. Even tho you can see some hints of the house being a shipping container it still looks great. I love the pop of color with the pipes.
I don't think the purpose is to hide the containers.
I love, love, love the whole thing
Awesome what a great idea . Very tastefully done . Better than I lot of homes I have seen . Great concept
Agreed! I've watched a lot of container home tours and this is one of my favorites.
Any idea how much the cost was to create this home? There are so many shipping containers just sitting idle. Many that get delivered to this country just get dumped in the ocean. Would love to see more of these get used. With so much available land in Detroit, whole neighborhoods could be built with these.
Damn towns won’t let us build. The rich folks have to start it first.
@@hatchett999ifyeven worse in California from what I hear the container has to be practically brand new which defeats the purpose of repurposing these old shipping containers and buying them cheap.
@@byrondelgado5521 that’s insane!! There’s a reason I don’t run loads west!!
@@hatchett999ifyCALL ATTORNEY GENERAL AND HABITAT FOR HUMANITY AND THEY WILL HELP YOU.GOOD LUCK.
A shipping container replaces framing costs and cladding costs. Everything else you have to do to build a house still costs a lot. I’m guessing one might save $15-20 a square foot by using shipping containers, and it’s still probably $150 a square foot at a minimum.
In the Northeast where I live, it costs at least $200 a square foot to build.
That house is over 2000 square feet, and probably cost $300,000-400,000 to build.
Yes! Love this!
Please show more container homes. I love these.
Absolutely gorgeous!
Gorgeous 😍 Love the open concept and modern touches 👍🏼 Much ❤️ from Atlanta.
This is fantastic. Great layout, would like to see more videos like this.
The size of the bed room downstairs and the first one upstairs is a cause for concern (for me). But lovely. I would live in one. I have no need for the bar though.
I'm in South Africa, and I think these type of houses are cool and I would like to leave in one of them .
Beautiful!
THIS WAS PHENOMENAL!!!😍🤩
Thanks a ton! So glad you liked it!
I was ready to buy and move to Detroit😂 I absolutely love this container home and I could definitely live there❤
It you do, reach out! www.movingmi.com 😅
I saw this house a few years back. It wasn’t fully complete. This house is 🔥
Really nice man, really nice! 👍
HELLO , WHAT A MASTERPIECE..........KUDOS.................GREAT SHARE , THANK YOU , FOR SHARING🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰.......................
Thanks for watching!!
I love them as well. I think they’re super cool too. I would definitely live in a shipping container home with no doubt about it and once so spacious for sure.
Super cool.
I live in Sterling Heights MI, and absolutely love this home and the one next to it looks like it's probably just as nice . this is very interesting. I would like more information.😊
This is so cool! I've designed one for myself (yet to be built). Love the exposed heating system. Very well done. So, yes, I would live in one.
Awesome! How long ago did you build it?
Very impressive!! Love it
I think it looked great. My only issue was no insulation in the ceiling of the mechanical room? In MICHIGAN? I dont get that.
There's insulation above the container because of the roof 😀
@@PaulWolfert OK thx. Thought it was exposed.
SAY WHATTT😮 this is AWESOMEEE
Love it watching from Cleveland Ohio
Thanks for watching!!
Beautiful
I like the concept. These would be a good idea for tornado areas if they are anchored down.
So true!
I would definitely live there!! This was a very thorough review! Good Job!
Thank you for watching!! I have a bunch of other tours on my channel if you're interested 😄
I have learned they come out just as expensive if not more as stick built homes. Modulars too. I have been researching as I want a modern custom home.
As someone who worked construction, I see a lot of problems working with container homes. Especially with mechanical (plumbing, heating). Also attaching everything to the steel structure without poking holes to the outside
Really smart idea for a short term prenatal. Purchase the land and then build a home with cheap material. No mortgage and minimal monthly expenses. 👍🏾
I love this, for me this is the best one I’ve seen.
There is a good sized one in Detroit at the corner of Trumbull and Pine. You can see it on Google street view. It is pretty nice. I would say there would be close to six containers in it as well.
I'll have to check it out! Might have been the same builder.
Great video! Thanks for showing this!!
Super Cool
I agree!!
This is super awesome.. i love it. A quick question... Am from Africa, Kenya and Almost all our house are build of either concrete Blocks, Bricks and curved stones.. Why do you guys in the states prefer building houses using timber? i know some houses are fully concrete but each time i see a house being built or renovated it's always timber and it's damn expensive..
HOW MUCH I LOVE IT.

@@PaulWolfertActually, the price is better than I thought it would be. I expected the price to be much higher. Does the room with the Murphy bed have a sliding door or is it just open? Can’t be a bedroom to me unless you can close the door/slider.
LOVE SHIPPING CONTAINER HOMES. THANKS FOR SHARING
Cool home
So cool!
Agreed!
Beautiful house
I would definitely live in one of these it’s one of my retirement homes plan for back in Jamaica or an original Jamaican board house
Love this.
What about the plans?
Can we access / purchase them?
Id love to do some thing like this in Louisiana.
Definitely cool, it would be even better with a basement. It could be done.
Basements don’t tend to do too well in Royal Oak. A lot of them see water.
That shipping container home is nice af
Agreed! They did an awesome job on it.
@@PaulWolfert I like how they left some of the original stuff from the containers in it. Nice sleek industrial look
@@trexmining me too. Would love to track where the one has been.
I love the concept not much grass my kind of place. lol man I would definitely buy one turn into Airbnb.
I had a few investors reach out about doing that
My dad is from Royal Oak. Very cool house!
Awesome! Royal Oak is one of my favorite cities. Lots of my buyers want to check it out as a lower priced alternative to Birmingham 😀
Probably the coolest one I've seen so far. I was wondering is next door neighbors shipping containers framed as well?
Yep! Basically the same house
@@PaulWolfert Nice😎👌🏿
Amazing house. Love it! 😍
I'm glad you love the house! It was awesome shooting it.
Very nice.
Would love to see the house next door which I assume is also built with shipping containers
Beautiful❤
Right? It's awesome! Thanks for checking it out!
I definitely would live in one
15:42 yes🔥🔥🔥👊
🙌 thanks for watching!
Well planned out home❤
Agreed! It's perfect for a shipping container home.
I love it. I live in another state and would be more interested in the architectural plans to build vs. moving.
Super Nice house and a Great idea, but my main concern is Will it Hold heat on the inside because of it been made out of Metal.
How come you didn’t say the price of it, this container house is on fire, I love it
We didn't have a set price at the time but it ended up selling around 500k
love the layout. wish the 2 first bedrooms were bigger.
TO THE AUTHOR OF THIS VIDEO,....
I DEFINITELY,.. WANT ONE!!!
LOVE! I’d love to have one built like this in Florida! Who’s the builder?
From what I've been told, the builder wasn't great to work with but I'm sure we could get the plans
really cool
My dream home ❤
It's for sale!
@@PaulWolfertHow Much? Gesh!!!
@@jacksondarryl34sold for around 600k
Very nice ❤😊
Good Content 🫡
Thanks!
I love it i live in Pontiac,How much did the house cost to build?
Really dig the layout, plus it being in Royal Oak close to everything cool, I think it's a place to be. I definitely don't see rust being an issue, those containers last forever if properly treated. I'm guessing by the look of the neighborhood, it's going for mid+ 6 figures. Cool place!
Thanks for your positive feedback on the layout and location! It's definitely a cool place to be. This one is being listed at $595k
14:15 that is not a patch 40' shipping containers have a steel section in the floor at the front of the box it is a support over where they connect while attached to a trailer to haul with a semi
Yes💥💥💥💥
Absolutely Amazing!!!
Price Please
I’d love to live there
I wonder how hard it is to get a mortgage on it, considering the construction. Would an insurance company categorize it as a house or mobile home? Given the construction, will the value greatly diminish as it ages? Real questions to ask before considering the purchase. Insuring an older mobile home in Florida is an astronomical cost. Trying to insure this might make an underwriter twitch.
It's just like a regular built home. Financed and insured the same way.
I actually like this design
Me too! Thanks for watching!
@@PaulWolfert fa sure! No problem!
👄Yes I have been waiting until they started building them here. How much does a 6 container unit typically goes for?👌💜🌻🌺🦋
It depends on a lot of things. It's not much less than a traditional build.
Depending on price, ,I would have like to see one more container in the yard in ground as a pool, with hard cover to use space when not in use, over been looking to build and our invest in container homes
The real purpose for shipping containers is not tiny houses, but cheap big houses. This one is nice, loads of possebilities.
I love everything except that living room set up! That TV definitely would of had to been hung on the opposite wall and strategically set up the couches with the space given. It’s just in an awkward place, and I’m kind of weird when it comes to “centering” things lol
The bedrooms were too small and how do the doors lock?
These are all cool and all. And I love the aesthetics of them. However, you can buy six containers that were used to build this home for $20,000 but I’m quite sure they’re selling this house for 30 times that.
Damn I was right 600,000. Find a lot, build it yourself for half of that!
It's more than just the containers. You can buy the wood to build a house for pretty cheap too.
Is that a price for new containers?
That includes construction costs from material, labor, and permits. These alternative homes are not cheap they're marketed to those with a higher income that want to feel unique or better about themselves buying "sustainable". Real affordable housing is something else
Literally . I agree
Is it harder to keep the heat inside during the winter?
Nope! It's insulated
This looks like one of those new age restaurants
I have a phobia of heights. This would not work for me. Is it insulated enough for a cold winter or hot summer? Is it high wind proof? Wondering what secures the building containers.
One side of the garage is very close to the house. It looks like it would be difficult to get in and out of.
would rust eventually become an issue?
I don't think so because it's coated and away from salt
This place is amazing!
...It may cost a lot and have child safety issues, but it still looks great!😅
Do you know if a VA loan can be used for purchasing?
Should be fine - would be appraised like a stick built home.
Are shipping container homes generally much cheaper than traditional?
I've seen a lot of shipping container homes. Other than the balcony area, this home was a little underwhelming. I didn't like how the home was sectioned off by the shipping containers. It had a shopping mall feel. It caused the kitchen to feel small and cramped, as well as the dining room. There's also a lot of wasted space on the main level due to this. The builder didn't do a good job with the overall design, imo.
🤷♂️ a lot of people love the layout. All personal preference I guess.
You're not wrong, the huge hallway is basically wasted space
I am watching this, trying to hear / read on what sized containers those even are. They don't necessarily look like the typical 40FT High-Cube Containers they used. Then again, I could be very much wrong.
I'm not sure. Wish there was more info on the construction
They should have this in California. I wish there will be an area where you can have containers homes or tiny homes. Since everything sooo expensive
They don't have them in California??
Could you let me know who the architect was on this and how much it cost also if they could set this up on my property in michigan
I'm not sure if this company is still building - send an email my way and I'll check. paul@movingmi.com
How much is this listed for? Is shipping container home cheaper to build than a comparable 'normal' house?
This one is being listed @595k - there are some savings and it's USUALLY faster. Not always.
How is insulation done? Looks so cold and industrial. Do these shipping containers allow for some sort of noise abatement as they are so close to one another. Living space is not so great. near the kitchen. Mehhh, these might be suitable for someone not planning to live in it as a forever home.
I do love it but for 600 you can get something about the same size and decorate it just the same.
How much did it cost to build? And how long did it take?
How much is this home going for in Royal Oak

Beautiful, what’s the selling price?
That place sure seems to be longer than a container. Looks more like 12 containers. Maybe it's just my perception.
It's 6 containers total + other building materials
Looks like they're 40ft
Did you say how much it was?
